About us

Fifteen members, one promise

Mutheki Sacco Society Ltd is a member-owned savings and credit cooperative in Nairobi — born in Kahawa Wendani and Githurai 45.

Our story

Mutheki began in 2010 as a welfare group of 15 members, drawn from Kahawa Wendani and Githurai 45. The idea was simple: mobilise funds so members could support one another in times of need.

Within a few years the group had grown steadily in members and savings. At an annual meeting, the members resolved to register the group as a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society, and elected the founding officials.

Mutheki Sacco Society Ltd was registered on 13 December 2012 under the then Ministry of Cooperative Development and Marketing, and issued a registration certificate.

Our next milestone is to qualify for front office service activities (FOSA), once we meet the minimum requirements. When that day comes, members will hear it first — from the committee, on this site.
